John Sawyers post from Day 3 Southern Circuit Miami

The RC got off two races today in 7-10 mph wind out of the ENE.
The class is running a mentoring program for the circuit and we signed up.  Al Turhune was our mentor and helped us get better starts, we still suck, but now in 2 out of 5 starts we are not trashed.  De-breifings by the leaders also occurred before launching each day.

Racing today really scrambled the results.  Tito Gonzales , Chili, won.  Tito is a very humble, he sailed with his son, probably 18 yrs old, and a girl friend of his son who had not sailed on a lighting.  In the photos, Tito is bow# 01, because he won the circuit last year. Spinnaker is the Chilean flag design.

Last year in St Pete we gave Tito a ride to claim his car from a towing company,
He had parked it in the Publics grocery store lot for days.  Tito owns the largest pig farm in Chili.

We feel good about our sailing.  Dan Morton & his son Jackson join me in St Pete tomorrow,  Becky says they have big shoes to fill. Dan says he will not be suckered into talking about how big Becky's feet are.  And so it goes ,always fun.
